MIDDLEBURG – Three people are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine at a Middleburg residence.

Acting on a tip, detectives went to the home in the 4100 block of Deer Trail and found the illegal drug being produced when the arrived about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, said Mary Justino, Clay County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Three detectives who are trained to dismantle meth labs safely took custody of the site. A private contractor later assisted the Sheriff’s Office in the safe handling and removal of some hazardous materials, Justino said.

Charles Daniel Barbour, 35, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine; Kenneth Edward Wigner, 34, manufacturing methamphetamine; and Stephen Michael Meggs, 23, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, according to Sheriff’s Office arrest reports.
