Dear Editor,
I read with interest that the State of Florida appears to be agreeing with Shands Hospital that one trauma center in northeast Florida is sufficient.
Before coming to any conclusions the persons responsible for the decision should try navigating Blanding Blvd around 5:00 PM on a weekday.
I suggest they start the trip from Hwy 16 and Blanding Blvd on an overcast, rainy day.
Orange Park Medical Center is half the distance and a life could hang in the balance.

Dear Editor,
Clay school district board members have shot themselves in the foot – again! Firing a teacher who would have been ready to protect her students against another Newtown!
Have you people lost it? You talk about hiring armed guards for the school which would entail a guard for every school room to be effective and cost a zillion dollars for the citizens to pay through higher taxes. And you say it is a felony to have a gun in the school?
If so, the idiots who made this student "gun control" law should take off their dunce caps and change this stupid law – now! Further they should furnish every teacher with a stun gun and train them in the proper use of it. And require them to keep it on their person while on school property! The Clay County citizens will thank you for saving them millions of dollars by not having to pay for armed guards. Last but not least, fire the members that voted to fire this teacher. The voters will remember this come re-election time anyway.
