EAGLE LANDING – Middleburg High’s Cody Carroll shot a 2-under par 70 at the Eagle Landing Country Club course to defeat St. Johns Country Day School’s Peyton Billings to win the Clay County boys golf championship individual title Monday in Orange Park.
Carroll edged Billings as the pair outdistanced the rest of the field as Clay’s Arden Brake finished third at 74 ahead of Fleming Island High’s R.J. Gross who hit into a three-way tie at 76 with teammate Tyler Broadus and Clay’s Eric Poehlman.
Fleming Island won the team title at 309 with Clay second at 338 and St. Johns third at 355.
