Blanding Boulevard widening project to see traffic shift Monday
JACKSONVILLE – Construction on Blanding Boulevard in Clay County from Old Jennings Road to south of Branan Field Road where the roadway is being reconstructed and widened, had a traffic shift on Nov. 21, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Southbound traffic shifted to the median area to allow the contractor to begin the next phase of work on the southbound side of Blanding Boulevard.
Access to businesses and churches within the project limits will remain open during construction. Work in the southbound lanes of Blanding Boulevard is estimated for completion in early March 2017, schedule and weather permitting.
Additional project work includes adding four-foot bike lanes and six-foot sidewalk in both directions, replacing the traffic signals at Copper Gate, Branan Field and Old Jennings Roads, adding street lights from Bear Run Road to just south of Branan Field Road and constructing a new drainage system including new pipes, inlets and a small pond.
The Florida Department of Transportation hired Hubbard Construction of Winter Park to complete the $16 million project by summer 2017.
