ORANGE PARK – A gathering of artists and other artisanal crafters is scheduled next weekend at an Orange Park shopping center.
The family-friendly fun kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on December 10 at The Rogue Gallery at 2186 Park Ave., Suite 102.
The artistic duo of Mike Debalfo and Jeremy Clark will be at the shop” hanging out creating original artwork live and interacting with fans for autographs and handshakes,” according to a press release about the event.
Because the event is described as a show “dedicated to highlighting different mediums and facets of Jacksonville’s visual art scene and nerd culture,” cosplay is invited. In other words, guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero or villain.
There will be various media on display ranging from paintings, illustration, pastel, photography, to cartoon art.
Featured artists include, Kyle Willis, Ingrid of Yuzly, Steven Taylor of Angular Velocity Designs, Bobby Klaiber Woodburning, Carmen of Carmen Cay Art, Sheila Ford of Jamberry, Jordan Summers of Summers Pop Art and Isaac Fox of Cremisi.
This marks the third in a series of monthly shows hosted by The Rogue Gallery. Door prizes will be awarded randomly to guests who check in on either via Foursquare or Facebook. Attendees are also invited to bring their business cards to drop in the pot to be eligible for a drawing for a free piece of art!

Pop-up maritime museum comes to Orange Park
ORANGE PARK – Clay County residents have a unique opportunity to learn about The Science of Shipwrecks with the aid of a pop-up museum that is currently on tour.
Key West-based Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, in partnership with the State of Florida Bureau of Historical Resources, is supporting education and Florida schools by providing traveling, Pop Up Museums at no charge to schools.
Orange Park Junior High School was granted the loan of this year’s pop-up museum, “The Science of Shipwrecks.” The displays explain the 1564 shipwreck of the Spanish merchant vessel “Santa Clara,” which sank after hitting a coral reef in five meters of water on the southwestern edge of the Little Bahamas Bank, approximately 37 kilometers north-northwest of West End, Grand Bahamas Island.
The history and science of the excavation efforts are explained in the display. The public is invited to visit the exhibit on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 1-5 p.m. on the campus of Orange Park Junior High.
The pop-up museum is located in portable 511 on the school campus, near the gym. Student guides will be on hand to assist in finding the right portable. This is the only chance to see this exhibit in Clay County, so don’t miss your chance if you have any interest in Florida history or marine archaeology.
Orange Park High School is located at 1500 Gano Ave.
