The Friends of Orange Park Library has hundreds of great inexpensive books for public sale, May 19 from noon-7 p.m., May 20 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and May 21 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Orange Park Library 2054 Plainfield Ave. Proceeds will benefit the library and programs sponsored by the Friends.

PENNEY FARMS HISTORICAL SOCIETY:
Hilltop Historian Maude Jackson presents "An Oral History of African-American Schools in Clay County," May 19 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber Room at Penney Farms Town Hall, 4100 Clark Ave.

CLAY PREPARES: May 21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., the Clay County Division of Emergency Management will stage its inaugural “Clay Prepares, Touch a Truck” at Orange Park Mall to educate the public about the start of hurricane season. Government and private sector emergency response vehicles, heavy equipment and other unique vehicles will be on hand to allow children to see and interact with them.

VETERANS IN NEED MUSIC FESTIVAL: May 21 at 3 p.m., American Legion Post 250, 3939 State Rd. 218, Middleburg. All proceeds go to aid homeless veterans program. $8 barbecue dinners, five local bands, 50/50 raffle.

BENEFIT CONCERT
: Help Orange Park Chorale raise funds for a deserving local charity. The benefit concert is scheduled for May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, U.S. Highway 17, Fleming Island.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY:
Art Yeaman discusses the Clay County Veteran’s Memorial project, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Historic Courthouse, 915 Walnut St., Green Cove Springs. The monument will bear the names of Clay County’s fallen warriors and a brick adoption program will be available for other names. Everyone is invited to attend, contact Clay County Historical Society, (904) 284-5243.

SPRING CONCERT: Orange Park United Methodist Church Handbell Choir, May 23 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Headquarters Library, 1895 Town Center Blvd., Fleming Island. All ages are welcome to attend. No tickets required.

CANDIDATE FORUM:
The Clay County Republican Party hosts event, June 2, Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s Sullivan Hall, U.S. 17, Fleming Island. Featuring Republican school superintendent and school board candidates.
