“You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are (like) a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” (James 4:14)
Do you ever feel that life is rushing past you? Sometimes it may seem that time is passing so quickly that we are in a blur.
No matter how long we live in this world, it is still a very short time when looking at history or eternity. Our life is a slice of time, in the great eternal plan, originated by Father God. We should recognize that we only have a brief time in this world to serve God and to accomplish His will.
Value every minute of your life. Time is one of our greatest treasures. Value it as you value your very life.
While you live in this world, determine that you will use the fleeting moments of time that comprise the length of your life to make a mark for the kingdom of God.
Someone once said to me, “Remember, five minutes is a long time.” The truth of that statement is determined by many corresponding issues. But the point of it is important. It is that we should consider all the time of our life as so extremely valuable that we do not waste even a small segment of it.
The past is gone. Do not try to live in it. The future may never arrive. Do not worry about it. Live today to honor God with every breath He gives you. Jesus taught us to live in today. (Matt. 6:34)
When James wrote the words at the beginning of this article, he was not expressing futility, but rather, urgency. He was saying do what you can for God with your life because it is short and limited.
Today is your opportunity … your challenge … your blessing. Do not let this day pass without doing something that honors your Savior and Lord.

Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
