Barbecue event raises $12,000
ORANGE PARK – The community came together Oct. 27 to raise $12,000 to help fund services for senior citizens. It was part of the Clay County Senior Adult Advocacy Council’s 12th Annual Bar-B-Q. The Council collected the funds through the sale of meals, as well as via corporate sponsorships, which were purchased by several companies and organizations in the community. In turn, the Council then presented a check for $7,000 directly to The Clay County Council on Aging, to help them to continue to serve the seniors of Clay County. After the check presentation, both groups and sponsors Whitey’s Fish Camp and Mojo Smokehouse BBQ of Fleming Island paused for this photo.
