Man jumped by group of four

ORANGE PARK – A man staying at the Stay Suites on Wells Road in Orange Park told police he was jumped Saturday by a group of four. Mitchell Adam Inglett, 50, a resident of Orange Park, is currently residing in the Clay County Jail and is being charged with home invasion without a firearm or weapon, as a result of what occurred Feb. 18.
Orlen Hess was standing on the balcony in front of his room when he was approached by a female who asked to use his bathroom. Hess allowed her into his room and followed her in. A few moments later, while the woman was in the bathroom, Hess heard a knock on the door.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office report, Hess opened the door and was immediately pushed to the ground.
After being pushed to the ground, Hess said was kicked and punched by the three men that entered the room. At this time, the girl using Hess’ bathroom exited the bathroom and also began attacking Hess. During the attack, one of the men stole $200 from Hess’ wallet as well as his room key.
When police arrived, Hess told them that he recognized one of the attackers as someone who lived on the first floor of the same motel. Hess and the police went to the room Hess believed the attacker was staying in and found the suspect standing by the door. The police detained this man for questioning.
Inglett is currently in jail with a bond set at $50, 003 and a court date set for March 22.

Sister steals sister’s car
MIDDLEBURG – A Middleburg resident was arrested last Friday after allegedly stealing her sister’s car.
On Dec. 27, Ashley Silcox called the police to report that her car had been stolen. Silcox told police that she had given her car keys to her six-month-old daughter to play with when Silcox’s sister, Teresa Ann Silcox, 45, asked her to grab a bottle for the baby in another room.
When Silcox went to do this, her sister Teresa grabbed the keys from the baby and left the house out of a window in one of the back rooms, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office report. Police said Teresa Silcox broke part of the window when jumping out and ran to her sister’s Lancer vehicle.
Teresa Silicox left the scene with her sister’s car.
Last Friday, police made contact with the defendant and she was arrested soon after, police said.
Teresa Silicox is currently in the Clay County Jail with bond set at $25,003 and a court date set for March 22.

Man steals roommates vehicle
ORANGE PARK – Last Friday, Jonathon Lankford and Tanner Strickland were driving to a friend’s house. While at the friend’s house, Strickland asked Lankford if they could go back to their apartment. Lankford said no and Strickland said he was going to walk home, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office report.
Strickland went to the vehicle they arrived in, found the keys in the car and proceeded to drive away. Lankford noticed this happening and attempted to stop Strickland from doing so.
Lankford then notified the police that his car had been stolen and said that Lankford would probably drive the vehicle back to their apartment. Lankford also told police that he had never given Strickland access to his vehicle to drive.
The police went to the apartment where they did, in fact, find Strickland. The police positively identified the vehicle at the apartment as the one in question, a PT Cruiser. Strickland was arrested soon after.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A Jacksonville man wanted by Clay County authorities for one felony count of grand theft auto recently turned himself over to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Police then charged Joseph Stephen Vestal Jr., 26, on Feb. 16 at 9:19 a.m. after he surrendered himself at CCSO headquarters in Green Cove Springs.
Police used a warrant they obtained last fall after conducting a brief investigation. According to the warrant, the victims said they allowed Vestal to use their 2011 Subaru Outback on Sept. 11 to go to “retrieve his children from Jacksonville.”
The victims told police he could use the vehicle for one hour, however, Vestal did not return the vehicle to their home on Preakness Plaza near Orange Park.
“After waiting approximately four hours, and after sending numerous messages to return the vehicle, the victims never heard from the defendant and never saw their vehicle again,” states the warrant.
CCSO detectives then contacted the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office who attempted to locate the stolen vehicle at Vestal’s last address there. However, officers found that Vestal no longer lived at the address they were given.
He was booked into the Clay County Jail where his bond was set at $20,003.
