U.S. District Court Judge Roy Dalton Jr. ruled that two county commission ordinances were constitutional. The ordinances were designed to restrict alcohol sales at night clubs on Wells Road in the wake of shootings on that corridor.

Orange Park Town Council voted to outsource its garbage and recycling pickup to Advance Disposal Co. of Jacksonville after years of operating that service using town employees.

On a 3-2 vote, the Board of County Commissioners approved a land use change that would allow developer Ken DeBusk to build homes on the old golf course at the Ravines in Middleburg.

Orange Park Police Chief Dalton Bray said officers - working in conjunction with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office - seized seven kilos of cocaine worth $26,000 from the Scottish Inn in Orange Park.

The Board of County Commissioners awarded a contract to Reynolds, Smith and Hills to construct a road leading to the new Food Lion distribution center south of Green Cove Springs using a $752,000 state grant.

Walmart announced plans to open an 85,922 square foot store in a plaza near the intersection of Bolton Road and Blanding Boulevard.

New school boundaries would send residents of Duckpond, Clay Hill and Middleburg to the new J.L. Wilkinson Elementary and Middle Schools off County Road 218.

The Clay County Development Authority moved forward with plans to pay J.P. Hall $3,000 an acre for 12 and a half acres on a 50-acre tract south of Green Cove Springs where it planned to build an industrial park.

Clay County teachers protested holding signs across the street from the school board meeting as they demanded a 6.5 percent pay raise, a recommendation of a special master after contract negotiations failed.
