Trigger your Metabolism

Posted

Inside every human body is its own calorie-burning machine. Your very own personal trainer smashing calories pro-bono. This is called your metabolism: a chain reaction of chemicals that occurs in your cells that burn food into energy. What if there was a way to naturally speed up that reaction, and keep scorching calories?

Through 30 years of research and experience, Metabolic Research Center’s one major goal is just that: trigger your metabolism for safe, effective weight loss. As been said before, every diet works, if you stick with it. So who is MRC and what makes them so different?

Who is Metabolic Research Center?

In the Clay area are located two centers, one in Orange Park in the Argyle Shopping Center and the other on Fleming Island off U.S. Highway 17. I recently had the chance to meet the area manager, Kim Lattimer, and two staff consultants, Alia Acala and Molly Blackman. All shared various insights and highlights of the clinic, but all were on the same page that celebrating a client’s weight loss is what makes MRC successful.

Metabolic Research Center builds its programs around your body mass index, or BMI, hormone levels and DNA tendencies. According to Lattimer, initial intake time is spent to “educate you about you” through evaluating your daily energy, mood swings, stress levels, sleep quality, eating and craving habits and daily activity. Then, a scientific tailored meal program is designed to fit your body-type and daily routines.

You’ll be taught how to grocery shop, meal prep and make wise choices when dining out. To add value to your eating, specific in-house supplements are offered. And finally, one-on-one coaching and weekly accountability is provided. Clinic consultant, Molly Blackman, says twice-a-week weigh-ins are included, where clients step into the “inspiration station” (seen here in the photo), record their weight, and as you can see, sign-off on the weight-loss wall.

Two unique features of MRC

1) Your hormone levels. From my own metabolic blood tests including the years of research from Metabolic Research Center, hormones definitively affect weight loss. Through a non-invasive saliva test, the center provides a hormone detection kit to measure both your reproductive and adrenal hormones throughout the day.

2) Your DNA markers. You can’t change your genetic makeup, but you can nurture your nature. Knowing how your genes respond to different diets and exercises will help you find what works best and what doesn’t. MRC takes a simple cheek swab to assess the five different genetic markers that are known to impact your weight, diet and responsiveness to exercise.

Both test results are openly shared with you and used to help build that customized profile for effective weight loss.

Does it work?

Like every diet program, the time, hard work, and success is up to you. Sharing that success is even better in a community of friends, especially on social media. If you visit their website or Facebook page, you will find hundreds of testimonies. Many of those stories are local testimonies right here in Orange Park.

During my visit, center consultant Alia Acala, shared one such story. She pulled out a file and shared a journey of one local resident who started in March with a goal of losing 100 pounds by New Year’s Eve. As of Nov. 15, Debbie has lost 76 pounds and on track to achieve her goal of losing 100 pounds.

Interested? I am

I must say the DNA part has me quite interested. I mean, what better way to start a weight-loss program (or any FitLife activity) than to know how your body responds to food and exercise. Let’s be honest, it’s hard to lose weight and keep the weight off too. If you take the approach offered by Metabolic Research Center, you at least begin your journey with the right information about you and what can stoke your calorie-burning machine.
