A procession for the fallen

Posted

ORANGE PARK – Our hearts go out to the family of Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Ben Zirbel today. His wife Anna and family stopped today and lay flowers at the crash site at Camp Francis Johnson Road and Blanding Boulevard intersection as part of the procession that began in Jacksonville at noon. The procession, which involved multiple law enforcement officers from Florida Highway Patrol, CCSO and some from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, was headed to Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery and Funeral Home on Sandridge Road. Zirbel will be laid to rest in a proper funeral tomorrow at St. Luke's Catholic Church on Blanding at Old Jennings Road.
