MIDDLEBURG – St. Vincent’s Clay County earned an ‘A’ spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization that grades nearly 3,000 general hospitals throughout the United States.

The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A,’ ‘B,’ ‘C,’ ‘D,’ or ‘F’ grade to all general acute care hospitals nationwide. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries. St. Vincent’s Clay County is among 29% of hospitals nationwide to achieve a spring 2024 ‘A.’

In Florida, the hospital is one of only 75 to achieve an ‘A.’

“This ‘A’ grade is the result of the hard work and attentiveness of everyone at St. Vincent’s Clay County,” said Bryan Walrath, St. Vincent’s Clay County President and CEO. “We are honored that the quality of care that every single patient receives when they walk through our doors is being recognized.”

The grading system is peer-reviewed and open to public scrutiny. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.

“Everyone who works at St. Vincent’s Clay County should be proud of this ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It takes complete dedication at every level and an ironclad commitment to putting patients first. I thank St. Vincent’s Clay County, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for caring so deeply for its patients and their safety.”
