County Road 218 Bridge Reopening

Posted

Green Cove Springs, FL – Clay County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce that the County Road 218 bridge will reopen Friday, December 8, at close of business. The bridge was closed September 19 after bridge inspector divers uncovered potential safety issues with the bridge following Hurricane Irma.

“We recognize that this has been a significant inconvenience and are delighted to give Clay County residents an early Christmas present as we re-open this major thoroughfare in our county,” said Chairman Gavin Rollins.

“We appreciate the hard work of our public works team and contractor, LeWare Construction Company of Florida, who completed the job ahead of the scheduled completion date of December 23,” said Commissioner Gayward Hendry, District 5. “More importantly we thank the citizens of Clay County for their patience and cooperation during this repair.”

The contractor will continue to complete painting the bridge, however, this will not impact the bridge roadway, which will be fully open to two-way traffic.
