CLAY COUNTY – Graduating high school seniors are encouraged to apply for a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Sophia Fleming Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
Applicants must graduate this year from the Clay County Public School System, St. Johns Country Day School or be home-schooled in Clay County. Students are eligible if they attend any post-secondary program of study, including colleges, universities or vocational/technical schools. No GPA information is required.
Points will be awarded from an essay, awards, recognitions, community service, and school and community letters of recommendation.
The instruction sheet and application form is available at all public high school guidance offices in Clay County and St. Johns Country Day School. They are also available by clicking on Sophia Fleming Scholarship at sophiaflemingchapter.org.
Applications are due Feb.16, and the winning recipient will be notified the week of March 23. Applications need not be hand delivered or mailed by certified or registered mail. Each applicant will receive an email or telephone call saying his/her application has been received. The applications must be received on or before the deadline date to be eligible.
