FLEMING ISLAND - With a touchdown strike from quarterback Devyn Dudones to soccer ace Emily Poucher, the Fleming Island flag football team stayed unbeaten with a 13-6 win at Forest High in Ocala of Friday. The day before, the Eagles trounced Ridgeview 46-0 with 27-0 halftime lead highlighted by a 58 yard scoring run from London Jenkins. Fleming Island improves to 5-0 for the season while Ridgeview falls to 1-4.

Forest, 2-2, scored first on a pass play to go up 6-0, but the Fleming Island offense moved efficiently behind Dudones and took a 7-6 lead in the second quarter with Jenkins scampering from three yards out to pay dirt and Jenkins hitting Poucher for the PAT point.
On their own five, linebacker Gabi Musa broke up a pass attempt by Forest with four seconds with Jenkins intercepted the next pass on the goal line to end the game. Musa finished with 15 tackles and two pass breakups while rushing for 35 yards and catching five passes.
Against Ridgeview, Dudones was sharp with 130 yards in the air with two scoring strikes with a 20 yard touchdown run. Jenkins accounted for 135 all purpose yards with two rush scores, one via air and one via interception from 24 yards out. Jenkins also toss one touchdown pass and had two extra points. Jenkins had two interceptions for the game.
Around the county, Clay won their season opener with a 7-0 win over Sandalwood while Oakleaf dropped their first; an 8-6 match to Flagler Palm Coast after opening the season with a 7-6 win over Baldwin.
Keystone Heights, at 2-3, lost 30-6 to Middleburg on Wednesday night after a 14-6 win over Crescent City on Tuesday. Middleburg scored 21 points in the first quarter to take a commanding lead.
The Broncos improved to 2-1 with the win their second in a row after a 13-6 win over ED White on Tuesday. Middleburg opened their season with a 13-0 loss to Fleming Island.
Ridgeview's lone win was a 12-6 game over Orange Park on February 22 with the Panthers losing three in a row; 6-0 to Menendez, 18-12 to Westside and 46-0 to Fleming Island.
The Panthers are without last year's starting quarterback Nia Blocton who has an ankle injury.
Orange Park is 2-1 with back-to-back 30-plus points wins; 33-0 over West Nassau and 31-0 over Wolfson.
The Raiders got a 50 yard scoring run from freshman Malia Mazerac against West Nassau and has used tough running from Jada Blanton and Alanna Kennedy for offensive pressure. Brictani Platas and Elizabeth Botello are top defenders for the Raiders.
