FitLife’s 2017 and winning in 2018

I can’t remember how many times I have said this year, “Where did the time go?” This is how I feel about 2017: fast, furious, frenetic. It’s been a year marked by mass disasters, record flooding, a semi-solar eclipse, wild scandals and a roaring stock market.
How about you, my FitLife readers? Was this a year that was fast, normal, or slow? One of victory, challenges or possibly loss? When I reviewed this year’s articles, I similarly covered a full range of fitness and food experiences. As said, my goal is always to inspire you to get out of the office, off the couch, get active, stay fit and live a happy, healthy life right here in this county.
Now before you head to the home office to grab a current or past issue, use this quick reference of FitLife’s 2017:

Local Success Stories

A husband and wife used an app to lose significant weight. Jim and Sally Crosby used MyFitnessPal to track food intake and increase their fitness activities (January).
Find do-it-yourself workouts on social media sites on YouTube, Instagram, and Beachbody. Researched and personally practiced by Jennifer DeSantis, she shares online videos you can do from your living room (March).
Healthy shopping at Publix with just $10 is possible with information and guidance from Annie Sheldon, UF/IFAS family and consumer science advocate (May).
She’s in her mid-60s and has completed 19 half-marathons, four 25Ks, over a half-dozen 10 milers, six Gate River Run 15Ks and much more in just six years. You met Jean Schubert, a senior with an attitude in April.
Brooke Thomas captained a team of cyclists on a 200-mile bike ride to Daytona and back while living with multiple sclerosis (June).
Listening to hunger cues and responding appropriately with a 3-3-3 rule can curb overeating says Sammy Pappas, registered dietician nutritionist and licensed dietician nutritionist (July),

Local Fit Events
Every April, Seamark Ranch holds a fun competitive, family-friendly outdoor event. The Seamark Mudder is a muddy obstacle course worth the time, money and challenge (April).
A friendly race right in Middleburg, the Black Creek 5K is a scenic course with lots of swag before, during and after the race (October)

Local Fitness Biz
Located off Kingsley Avenue by the police station, Fit Body Boot Camp offers high-intensity workouts with an at-home feel.
Opened a couple months ago, Workout Anytime (Blanding Boulevard and Knight Boxx Road) literally offers 24/7 fitness for those who need the convenience of gym access to fit their schedule.

Winning in 2018
I’m training for a big event in February so stay tuned! Also in January, I will share my final weight (gain or loss) from the holidays. And like always, I close my article with you in mind.
