HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital opens medical office building

Addition finished to keep up with rapidly-growing Clay County

ORANGE PARK – HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital has opened a new 60,000 square foot medical office building, just south of the main hospital.

The new office building was built to provide better access to healthcare within Clay County, playing an important role given the county’s expected 7.3% population growth over the next 15 years. The population growth was slightly higher than the fastest growing city in the state – Fort Myers at 6.8% last year. The new building is on the East side of HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital at 1825 Kingsley Avenue and will include an outpatient imaging center and six physician offices including: First Coast Neurology, First Coast Neurosurgery, ENT, Park Primary Care, Surgical Specialists and Women’s Health.

Clay County projects adding 80,000 new households and a population growth of 225,000 during the next decade and a half

“Clay County is growing at an astronomic pace. It makes it a really exciting time to be in healthcare and in this community,” said Pete Long-Innes, Chief Operating Officer at Orange Park Hospital. “As the county grows, we are adding to our footprint and to our services. Everything we do is to help keep our residents within our community for healthcare.”

To keep up with the rapid growth the county is seeing, the hospital invested $126 million into a project that added a new four-story patient tower in 2021 that included 48 patient rooms, a new registration space and a new cafeteria and kitchen.

This year, the hospital began construction on a $34 million expansion that includes two new inpatient units that will add 48 private patient rooms. In addition, the project will include the building of a new 20-bed intensive care unit, adding to its existing 28 ICU beds.

“As the largest healthcare provider in Clay County and the state of Florida, it’s our responsibility to dedicate our resources and expertise to add high-level services for our neighbors. Providing more access to critical services such as maternity, stroke, and emergency care are necessary with the type of growth we’re seeing around us,” said Long-Innes.

Last month, the hospital hosted a topping out ceremony to commemorate the placement of the final beam of their new freestanding emergency room. HCA Florida Middleburg Emergency is located at the crossroads of Blanding Boulevard and Everett Avenue and will be an 11-bed 10,820 square foot ER with on-site imaging and lab services. The facility will open this fall and will be the third freestanding emergency room for HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. The hospital’s HCA Florida Park West Emergency and HCA Florida Normandy Park Emergency treated nearly 70,000 patients last year.

“We are excited to expand to meet the needs of the growing community in Southern Clay County,” said Dr. Amin. “It’s why we do what we do. We want to bring emergency care closer to where people live so that they don’t have to travel far to get help when they need it quickly.” The new emergency room will be conveniently located to provide quick emergency care access to those living in Middleburg, Lake Asbury, Green Cove Springs and Penney Farms.
