Irma recovery event a success

Although it’s not Clay County Fair time, the Clay County Fairgrounds were busy last week as the Department of Children and Families coordinated their Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program event.

Residents of Clay and Putnam Counties who were affected by Hurricane Irma were able to access emergency assistance to purchase food for themselves and their families. Hats off to DCF, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Fire and Rescue, Emergency Management Staff, local government and I’m sure countless other partners.

Thousands of people served and neither the long lines, the long days, the hot sun nor the windy rain could dampen the spirits of all the helpers and all those who needed a little extra help.

Clay Behavioral Health Center and Kids First of Florida were proud to be a part of such a well organized, efficient and compassionate effort. It was Clay County Teamwork at its best!
