Clay students complete U.S. Air Force training
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Three Clay County residents and two others with family and ties to the area recently completed basic training with the U.S. Air Force at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Jonathan Brinley, U.S. Air Force Airman Barry W. Fine III, U.S. Air Force Airman Kamerin C. Peters, U.S. Air Force National Guard Airman Lucas J. Van Ginkel and U.S. Air Force Airman Jordan N. Deyo completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
A 2018 graduate of Ridgeview High, Brinley is the son of Catherine and Michael Brinley of Middleburg, while Fine is a 2016 graduate of Middleburg High.
Peters is the daughter of Vikki C. and Daniel J. Peters and sister of Trevor R. and Tyler D. Peters of Green Cove Springs and a 2018 graduate of Clay High.
Van Ginkel is the son of Matthew J. and Gina E. Van Ginkel of Fleming Island and a 2018 graduate of Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Ga.
Deyo, son of Robert Deyo of Ponte Vedra Beach, is a 2017 graduate of Florida Youth Challenge Academy at Camp Blanding.
