DOCTORS INLET – Fleming Island High students are getting a unique opportunity to showcase their art in a professional gallery.

Opening officially on Saturday, April 14, anyone can visit Wehner’s School of the Arts on College Drive to view over 30 pieces of art from 24 art students. The gallery comes as a collaboration between Wehner’s and their in-house artist, Cynthia Csalovski, who is the mastermind behind getting high school students involved. Wanting to help local artists and artists at a high school level, Csalovski figured Wehner’s would be a perfect starting point.

“Because we have this opportunity to use this gallery, I thought it’d be great to have students in here,” Csalovski said. “As an artist myself, I know the struggle of getting your work shown on a professional level, like in a gallery, and I thought it’d be great to help students get a jump start on that.”

Wehner’s provided canvases to each of the participating students and starting Saturday, they’ll provide a space for them to showcase their work. Guests can view the art during normal operating hours until May 2. An opening reception will take place April 14 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
