Nadler training for second U.S. Olympic Marathon attempt

Posted

GAINESVILLE - Keystone Heights High School standout distance runner Enoch Nadler returned to his running roots recently with a return this year to Gainesville and also the inception of his racing into the famous Florida Track Club community.

“My team FTC runners just finished a 20 mile run which is my longest run ever in one of my best weeks of training, “said Nadler, after his training run on Sunday in Micanopy. “A teammate and I did the 20 with the rest of the team doing shorter pieces of it.”

Because of the turnaround of his life, from a Dallas business world to running in South America to missing home, Nadler officially stepped back into the arena of Olympic marathon running on Sunday with his announcement of starting at 20-week training regimen for the upcoming California International Marathon set for December 3 in Sacramento.

“I’ve got 20 weeks to get ready for my first ever marathon in Sacramento,” said Nadler, who heads up Team FTC, a racing component of the Florida Track Club. “We have 10-12 runners already committed to go with me.”

Nadler, 31, who had qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston four years ago with a very fast 1:03.55 half marathon split at the 2013 USA Half Marathon Championships, plans to use the California race to shore up his ability to take on the 26.2 mile test. The California race also serves as the USATF Marathon Championship race.

“The Trials qualifying time is two hours, 19 minutes,” said Nadler, a 2004 graduate of Keystone Heights, then a graduate from University of Florida where he still holds numerous track records. “I’m really happy with how training is going.”

Nadler’s recent speed on the roads is unquestionably part of the process of returning to the racing fold with a very fast 4:09 road mile and a 14:37 win at the Run for the Pies 5K in Jacksonville a month ago.

“I have some great sponsors that keep me rolling and healthy, plus my wife Angela,” said Nadler. “Team FTC has really motivated me to get back into running in general then running a marathon then pursuing the Olympic dream again. I’ve been getting some awesome training with Eduardo Garcia (Mandarin High grad).”
