Lillie M. Valle
On July 25 Lillie M. Valle was received peacefully and calmly into the arms of the one and only God she served. Her family was there to pray her on at the home of her daughter, Kathy Ramirez, in Central La.  She will be reunited with the love of her life of 68 years, Manuel D. Valle. Dad has been waiting to be put to rest together with his bride since July 15, 2017. Lillie was born April 21, 1930 in Denison, TX to Henry H. Atwell and Mattie Kyker Atwell. Growing up on a farm the fifth of ten children groomed her to be a strong faithful person. In mom’s own words from her journal she wrote: “As you continue to reveal your love to me, create in me a place of rest and peace that attracts others to come and know that you live in me in peace, quietness, and love.” She did just that up to her final day. Her faith journey began in a need to belong to a church where she felt at home.  She converted to Catholicism after marrying dad. She was loyal to her church serving in various positions as a Eucharistic minister, lectern, women’s altar society, adoration chapel and served as a spiritual advisor. She was the best prayer warrior one could always depend on. She will be remembered by the many she counseled and guided into the faith. Her loyalty to her family and friends, a strong urging to forgiveness, and trust in God’s mercy. She and dad were founding members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Green Cove Springs, Fla., and left behind a wealth of friendships and memories. You could always count on Lil, as she was affectionately referred to, to bring the best desserts and food to any church function. She was a great cook and her meals will never be forgotten. Mom was designed to be a military wife of a career Air Force SSgt. She was very resourceful at saving everything including space. Our attics became memories overflowing with love.  Her prayers, along with dad’s, landed our family in places that God intended us to be. She was the glue that held her family together. In another journal entry, mom was giving thanks to the Lord for her family, and for the husband he chose for her, at the time, was 48 years. She referred to her children as gifts from his heart and asked for his blessings on them. Our family is truly blessed! After putting her life on hold for dad’s career, and family demands, she finally learned to drive at the ripe age of 42. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition in the mid 1980’s, retiring after 19 years for Clay County School System. Mom loved and prayed for all of her caregivers, proving that God dwells within us no matter our state of mind.  We are forever grateful for the tender loving care mom received from her caregivers. Sitters for Tender Care: Shewanda Lee, Kendrick White, Charlotte & Vanessa Goins, and owner Nneka Goins, Modern Hospice staff, and special thanks to nurses Laura & Brittney, and daily care from CNA Toni. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.  She grieved the loss of her baby, Anthony, that she can now wrap her arms around and her husband, Manuel D. Valle. She is survived by daughter Linda Ray and husband Pat; son Michael D. Valle and wife Vicky; twin daughters, Karen Valle & Kathy Ramirez; and son Mark Valle. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nikki Clark and husband Terry, Ashley Collins, Kyle Frank, Derek Valle, Lindsey Herndon, Rachel Vogt, Leslie & Melissa Valle, & Madison Shatswell and husband Timothy; as well as great grandchildren: Tyler Clark, Austin, Kaydence & Addlyn Collins and Preslie Frank. Services for Lillie M. Valle and Manuel D. Valle will be Thursday, August 2, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Greenwell Springs LA, with visitation from 9:30a.m. until Memorial Mass at 11a.m. Burial will be at 12:30p.m. at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA, with Military Honors for Manuel.
