Mercedes M. Crump, 101, passed away on December 26, 2023. She was born on February 24, 1922, in Oriente Province, Cuba to Jose and Marcella Vasquez.

Mercedes married Samuel M. Crump in 1947 and they were united for 60 years, until his death in 2007.

She is survived by her children, Wanda Heck (Rick), Duel Crump, Betty Cook, Bert Brown (Rick) and Samuel Crump, Jr.; grandchildren, Israel Dyson (Cathy), Kristen Kafka (Nick), Kerry Brown, Samuel Crump, III, Angie Starks (Al), James Cook (Bethany), Sara Heck Brown (Mike); great-grandchildren, Tyler Dyson, Taylor Thompson, Russell Thompson, Colby Thompson, Chole Lugenbel and Noelle Thompson; caregiver, Toni; beloved dog, PeeWee; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Community Hospice.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.

She will be laid to rest at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park FL.
