Larry Ray Lancaster

Larry Ray Lancaster, 70, passed away peacefully in his home on April 16, 2018. He was born September 8, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL and was a lifelong resident of Clay County. Larry was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Green Cove Springs. Larry retired after 39 years in the Clay County School System, serving as a beloved history and government teacher and then vice Principal at Orange Park High School. He also served 16 years as a Clay County Commissioner. Larry worked as a Florida Highway Patrolman before beginning his career as an educator. He was very active in community organizations such as the Clay County Fair Association, Cattleman’s Association, 4H, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch and the Town of Orange Park Planning Committee. Larry was appointed as a Trustee on the Board of Directors for St. John’s River State College. Mr. Lancaster was predeceased by his parents: Lanny and Frances Lancaster; wife, Thanna Jewell (Edwards) Lancaster; and son, Murray Leon Lancaster. Survivors include his wife, Dawna P. Berlin; children: Rebecca Lynn (Mike) Minigh, Joseph Earl (Shelley) Lancaster, Sharon (Joe) Ploeger and Bret Berlin; 2 brothers: Barry (Sandy) Lancaster and Scott (Stacie) Lancaster; sister, Joanie (Kevin) Bressler; and 15 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Family received friends  Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 500 Walnut Street, Green Cove Springs, FL with Rev. David Jackson and Rev. Rick Douylliez officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch, PO Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064. Virginia ‘Ginger’ Curington Sapp
Virginia “Ginger” Curington Sapp, born September 26, 1946 in Ocala, Fla. passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 8, 2018 after a long battle against pancreatic cancer. Ginger will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Jud, her two children, Jennifer (Darren) and Judson (Kelly), and three grandchildren Logan, Willard and Ryder. She will also be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends.
A friends and family celebration of life will be held for Ginger at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at the Florida Yacht Club: 5210 Yacht Club Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32210.  In lieu of flowers, please donate “In memory of Ginger Sapp” to: Mayo Clinic Development, Pancreatic Cancer Research, 4500 San Pablo Rd. Carolyn Jane Dixon Shuman Sapp
Mrs. Carolyn Jane Dixon Shuman Sapp, age 84, of Waycross, Ga. (formerly of Blackshear) died Tuesday evening April 10 at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness. Born March 28, 1934 in Blackshear, Ga. she was a daughter of the late Tom Sykes and Miram Crews Dixon. She was a graduate of Blackshear High School and moved to Jacksonville, Fla. in 1955. She moved to Middleburg, Fla. in 1969 where she lived many years raising her four children. She returned to South Georgia to Waresboro in 2003 and moved back to Blackshear in 2009. She was a longtime, devoted mother, housewife and a member of Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, William Silas Shuman; her second husband, Donald Joseph Sapp; a sister, Iris Jones; and a brother, Thomas E. Dixon. Survivors include her 4 children, Ann Reid (husband Dave) of Middleburg, Fla., Rocky Shuman of Keystone Heights, Fla., Peggy Brown of Middleburg, Fla., and Darlene Puckett of Fleming Island, Fla.; 9 grandchildren, Jacob Reid, Lisa Berglund (husband Jim), Roxanne Shuman, Rachael Shuman, Thomas “T.J.” Brown (wife Paige), Paul Puckett (wife Heather), all of Middleburg, Rocky Shuman, Jr. (wife Shannon) of Keystone Heights, and Rodney Puckett, Jr. and Elizabeth Puckett, both of Fleming Island; her 21 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Annette Earle (husband Pete) of Fleming Island and Frances Crews of Waycross; a brother, Sammy Dixon (wife Nancy) of Blackshear; sister-in-law, Polly Chancey of Folkston, GA. A funeral service took place Saturday morning April 14 in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Enon Cemetery, Blackshear, Ga. Mr. John Alan Jackson of Maxville passed away Sunday April 8, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday April 11, 2018 from the graveside in Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Harry Hatcher officiating. Mr. Jackson is survived by a daughter Shelby Jackson of Middleburg, Fla.. Sisters Patricia (Bill) Tuck of Greenville, S.C, Diane Strickland and Tom Stovall of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Jo Ann (Harry) Hatcher of Starke, Fla. Friends and family assembled at the graveside on Wednesday.
