CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Thirteen Miami Hurricanes were among those to be recognized with end-of-season all-conference football honors, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday.
Headlined by three members of the team who earned nods to the All-ACC First Team, Miami was one of the most represented programs from the ACC on the 2023 honoree list.
Wide Receiver Xavier Restrepo, defensive back Kamren Kitchens and kicker Andres Borregales were those student-athletes to earn first-team All-ACC honors.
Offensive linemen Jalen Rivers, an Oakleaf High School graduate in Orange Park, FL, and Matt Lee, linebacker Francisco Mauigoa and SP Brashard Smith were selected to the All-ACC Second Team.
Miami, on December 28, lost 31-24 to Rutgers in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium.
Rivers, in a statement on December 18 in an article from Brian Smith of FanNation, gave notice that he would be skipping the NFL draft and returning to Miami to play a final season.
"I talk to coach Mario Cristobal and see where the program is going and I wanted to be part of it," said Rivers, in a radio interview on InsideTheU. "I was thinking about it for a couple of weeks before the end of the season to my people. I just want to hone my skills more and be better at my craft."
