ORANGE PARK – The Ridgeview High Panthers took little time to grab a big lead in their Sept. 7, 42-7 win over Westside High School as quarterback Tyler Huff finished off a quick drive with a nine yard touchdown pass to tight end Grayson Edwards.
From there, the Panthers (3-0) punched up six fumbles; recovering five and rolled to the blowout win over the winless Wolverines (0-3).
In the first half, tailback Caleb Plyler scored on a 20 yard, wide out Isaac Chaffin finished off a 60 yard scoring bomb and Jordan Hardyway snagged a 14 yard touchdown pass as the Panthers scored at will in the second quarter.
A fumble recovery from safety Matt Dye turned into a Plyler score and a 27-0 lead with defensive back David Osborn ending the half with an interception.
Plyler took the second half kickoff 70 yards to the Wolverine 25 yard line which got a touchdown run from Rey Gonzalez and a two point conversion run from Huff.
Up 35-0, Gonzalez got a second score to push the game to 42-0 and initiate a running clock.
Huff, with 579 passing yards in three games, finished with 131 yards on six of 11 passes with the two scores. Plyler leads the Panthers on the ground with 193 yards and had just 30 yards on four carries with two touchdowns. Chaffin finished with four catches for 108 yards.
Ridgeview next hosts Palatka (2-1) for a district 5-5A contest.
