WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (R-Florida) recently announced his 2024 U.S. Service Academy nominations for Florida’s Fourth Congressional District during a special ceremony at Naval Air Station Cecil Field.
Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. Service Academies – U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado; U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy of New London, Connecticut, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
A student can be nominated for several academies.
“One of the top honors I have in Congress is to provide nominations for the brightest and boldest students wishing to serve our nation in uniform by attending one of the five U.S. Service Academies,” Bean said. “I was proud to nominate these 16 dedicated students who represent the very best of our district and nation. I wish all our candidates the best of luck as they move forward with the application process.”
The following students from Clay County were nominated:
Air Force Academy – Kaygen Williamson, Clay High
Naval Academy – Sofia Conde, St. Johns Country Day School, Cade Dailey, Fleming Island, Kaygen Williamson, Clay High
Merchant Marines – Cade Dailey, Fleming Island, Kaygen Williamson, Clay High
