JACKSONVILLE – In a swim district dominated by Jacksonville Bolles with their dozen or so state titles, St. Johns Country Day School takes a bit of flesh behind a third place region seed from Nick Rogers in the 100 butterfly and a sixth place seed from Courtney Sage in the 100 freestyle.
With 25 athletes slated to compete in the upcoming region 1-1A championships at Bolles, St. Johns Country Day School earned a top seed of third in the girls 200 free relay.
At their district 2-1A championship meet, St. Johns opened with a second place finish to Bolles in the 200 medley relay with Bolles on top at 1:52.01. St. Johns finished in 2:02.66 to push Episcopal to third by a minute.
A slew of top three to five places by Bolles kept most of the rest of the district out of the top three at least with Rogers getting his third in the 100 butterfly in 53.53 just a half second off the runnerup time of 53.03.
Sage scored a sixth in the 50 free with teammate Christin Schmidt fifth in the 100 butterfly, plus teaming on the second place 200 free relay with Lillie McNeely and Maylee Gouin. Sage is seventh seeded in the region 1-1A lineup in the 50 free.
Schmidt came back to take fifth in the 100 backstroke. Schmidt is 10th seeded in the region in the 100 butterfly and
Rogers finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke.
