Whoa! Panthers ripped 50-0

ST. JOHNS - The Beachside Barracudas took a solid bite out of the Ridgeview Panthers early, and just kept gnawing away all game as the Panthers gave up three unanswered first quarter touchdowns. As the Panther defense stepped up in the second quarter, Ridgeview was a yard away from breaking the goal line plane, coming away empty. The Barracuda’s bite was too intense as the Panthers got blanked on the way to a 50-0 road beat down.

The Panthers won the toss and elected to receive the kickoff, trying to set the stage. The plan looked solid as the Panthers gained an early first down.

That was the bright spot of the first quarter as Beachside needed only three plays to go ahead 7-0 early. Back on offense after a touch back kickoff, the Panthers would go three offensive plays and had to punt again.

Beachside needed only a single 40 plus yard pass to go ahead 14-0 with 7:52 left to play in the first quarter. After another touch back kickoff back to the Panthers, Rayhn Hutchinson gave it everything he could muster on the ground running, backed by quarterback Travon Malone trying to find receivers anywhere on the field, with meeting nothing but frustration with the smothering Beachside defense.

The second quarter of play showed some hope as the Panther defense held their ground, preventing any Barracuda scores. Offensively, Malone found Deshun Green deep, getting stopped just shy of the goal line. The Barracuda defense came at the Panthers full bore, sacking Malone for a five yard loss, another sack for loss, then an attempt at a wildcat direct snap to Hutchinson that sailed over his head, recovered by the Panthers. On fourth down, Santiago Quecano attempted a field goal and seemed to ground his foot, sending the ball short and into the hands of the Barracudas.

Even with the shutout second quarter, the Panthers could do nothing with the sting of that Barracuda bite in the second half allowing 30 more unanswered points on the way to a 50-0 defeat.selection at quarterback.
