OAKLEAF—Despite Saturday's rainy weather, the county's first Veterans Day 5K went smoothly.
With more than one hundred people signed up, the runners and walkers began along Plantation Oaks, venturing into Oakleaf Community Park and the State Road 23 overpass before crossing the finish line.
Along with the race, the event also featured various veteran support and county booths, with food and refreshments also provided by Rush Bowls, Starbucks, Black Rifle Coffee Company and Big Butt BBQ.
Following the race, awards were presented to various age group winners, including the overall fastest male and female for 12 and younger and 70 and older. An award was also given to the quickest wheelchair racer.
All proceeds went to the Veterans Council Clay County.
