KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Runners came out in full force to take a 3.1-mile trip around their little town in the Freedom 5K race to benefit the Jordan Cooper Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Cooper's memory, a 25-year-old local who died in 2017, was fortified by the immense turnout with runners coming from as far away as Virginia, California and Georgia joining the local crowd.
Winners were Daniel Stoltzfoos, 16, of Live Oak, with a time of 17 minutes, 47 seconds.
The first girl was Keystone Heights High cross country and track standout Melody Tyre, 16, who finished in 21:48, with Indians teammate Ryleigh Thomas, 13, finishing third in 21:54. Squeezing in between the two Keystone Heights runners was Chloe Iliff, 20, a Creekside High grad, who plays soccer for Lipscomb University.
From Blacksburg, Virginia, Brett Tornwall, 41, was fourth overall in 18:24 behind Hunter Gray, 15, and Ryan Collins, 31, both of Keystone Heights, also competed.
Zeb Burton, 24, of Monroe, Georgia, was 14th in 20:46
Shepherd Ainsworth, 17, of San Francisco was 22nd in 21:31.
Other Top 20 finishers included J Cusack, Stuart Robertson, Noah Yara, Hunter Sheppard, Trenton Noble, Ty Mitzel and Ethan Gagnon.
