ORANGE PARK - Ridgeview High girls basketball, ranked no. 5 in Class 5A at 11-3, will face off against the Oakleaf High Lady Knights in a semifinal clash at the Clay County Cup Basketball Invitational while, in the other semifinal, Orange Park will battle with Bishop Snyder.
Hosted by Orange Park High School, the Clay County Cup is a girls basketball showcase just a week before district tournaments are set to begin and pits the high-flying Ridgeview High Panthers, led by the Blocton sisters; Narissa and Nacoya, against a revitalized Oakleaf High girls team that has recent wins over the likes of Bradford County, 11-2 before Oakleaf beat them on Saturday and earlier wins against Andrew Jackson and Nease. That clash is set for Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Ridgeview High.
Ridgeview defeated Keystone Heights 56-12 to advance with Oakleaf avenging an earlier season loss to Fleming Island with a 49-37 win over the Golden Eagles
Orange Park defeated Middleburg 58-23 with Bishop Snyder beating Clay 60-9 to advance.
The Orange Park game against Bishop Snyder will be at Orange Park High also on Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. The championship game is set for Friday, January 25 at Orange Park High School.
Middleburg will play Clay at Ridgeview at 6 p.m. while Keystone Heights will play Fleming Island at Orange Park, also at 6 p.m. in the consolation semifinals.
