CLAY COUNTY – MedTrust, an ambulance provider serving Clay County, has appointed a new CEO, Lenna Macdonald.

Lenna Macdonald brings more than 20 years of experience as a leader and has been working for MedTrust since 2014.

“I’ve worked for large organizations and small organizations but what I love about MedTrust and what I love about this role is the passion they bring for the service we’re providing, “Macdonald said. “It’s the core values, it’s wanting to be of service to others.”

In addition to providing ambulance services in the Clay County area, MedTrust also played a vital role during the coronavirus pandemic. In Clay County, MedTrust employs 100 people and last year completed more than 4,400 transports. 

Although Macdonald has worked for a variety of businesses, her main goal has always been to build a good relationship with the people she services. Josh Watts, the former CEO of MedTrust, is also confident Macdonald is a good choice for the CEO position. Watts will still be working with MedTrust now that Macdonald has become the new CEO.

The reason MedTrust chose Macdonald to be their new CEO was because of her understanding that providing the best care for patients should be the main goal for MedTrust.

“We believe that if we’re focused on the patient and the patient’s experience, we’ll be able to bring the most value.” Macdonald said. 

Macdonald started working for MedTrust after she learned of Watts’ vision to provide quality patient care for people. Watts taught Macdonald the importance of being focused on the patient and being passionate about providing excellent service to patients. 

Since becoming the new CEO, Macdonald hopes to carry on the values of MedTrust.

“I love our entrepreneurial spirit, we’re innovative, we’re forward leaning, we like to walk alongside our hospital partners and try to help solve problems with them,” Macdonald said. “The combination of the real passion for service plus being entrepreneurial is really exciting.” 

Macdonald believes the most important role MedTrust had during the pandemic was not only providing their services but also providing compassion.

“I am so proud and inspired by our providers. Every day they are providing such compassionate care to our patients and often in the most difficult of circumstances,” she said. “Our goal is to make sure patients not only get great care but also provide that little something extra, that compassion, that understanding.”

MedTrust is an ambulance service that works primarily with hospitals. The company doesn’t take 911 calls but provide transportation to patients in hospitals or other medical facilities. MedTrust provides transportation services to Florida, South Carolina and Georgia.
