GREEN COVE SPRINGS  CalaVida Nights Street Dance & Art Walk took place on a toasty Friday evening around Walnut and Palmetto streets.
The get-together was a precursor to Saturday's annual CalaVida Arts Fest.
An intermittent breeze and shaded benches served as a remedy for pedestrians who wanted to beat the heat. Residents from all walks of life  shop owners, artists, food vendors  mingled with visitors from Clay County and beyond.
Among the many businesses participating at the pet-friendly affair were Beltz Tattoos and Art, I. Castillo Designs and The Guitar Station.
Front and center was the Rotary Club of Green Cove Springs, conducting a charity raffle under a royal-blue canopy. At the blocked-off road's opposite end was a trio of food trucks, courtesy of El Agave Azul, Bright Light Catering and Mister Softee.
Plenty of musicians got in tune while takin' it to the streets: Calvin Waiguru, 18, of Clay High School; the Darren Ronan Band, whose eponymous leader has performed for decades; and Guitar Station student Allie.
