OAKLEAF – Medical facilities nationwide are taking all possible precautions in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The new Baptist and Wolfson Oakleaf ER is no exception.
A registered nurse with a mask, gloves and a clipboard were at the entrance to screened everyone before entry. The nurse asked a series of questions, identifying whether or not the entrant had symptoms that may have demonstrated the presence of the COVID-19 in their system.
The nurse then asked whether the person was experiencing a cough, a temperature, shortness of breath or whether they had been to any infected areas recently, such as China, Japan or Korea.
“We continue to follow CDC recommendations to screen patients for travel history and symptoms,” said Darin Roark, vice president of ambulatory campuses and system emergency services. “This applies to our Oakleaf ED, Clay ED and our eight other emergency department locations across Northeast Florida. We remain open 24/7 to serve the medical emergency needs of our community.”
