Kathy Fernandez appointed interim president at Haven
ORANGE PARK -- Kathy L. Fernandez, BSN, MHA, recently was selected as Haven’s interim president.
After more than 20 years as an executive leader of Chapters Health System in Tampa, Kathy retired from her position as president and chief executive officer. Under her leadership, Chapters experienced a significant increase in the number of patients under hospice care as well as expanded programs to address the unique needs related to aging, complex medical conditions and end-of-life concerns.
“I’ve always known of Haven and what a great organization it is,” said Kathy. “When I was asked to serve as Haven’s interim president, I felt compelled to join the team and help maintain this amazing community resource. I look forward to being a part of continuing Haven’s excellence and combining growth strategies and my previous experiences to help grow Haven as the premiere hospice of choice.”
Haven has eight hospice locations, including one at 745 Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park.
In her time as Haven’s interim president, Kathy will collaborate closely with SantaFe HealthCare & Affiliates President and CEO Larry Schreiber, in addition to the Haven leadership team and Haven’s associates to ensure that Haven continues to meet and exceed the day-to-day comfort and care needs of its patients and their families. Moreover, Haven plans to capitalize on Kathy’s expertise and vision to further direct its strategic pathway forward.
“We are very lucky to have Kathy on board,” said Larry Schreiber. “I am confident that her contributions will have a positive near- and long-term impact on our ability to fulfill and expand our mission: Honoring life by providing comfort, care and compassion to individuals and families we serve.”
Haven is the source for patients, their families and their healthcare providers to find answers to their advanced illness challenges. In addition to providing comfort through the compassionate delivery of hospice services, Haven offers Advance Care Planning, Palliative Care Consultations and Transitions services with a patient-centric focus.
