MIDDLEBURG – A man found “slumped over and drooling” in the driver’s seat at a gas station was arrested on Aug. 14 for drug and weapon charges by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph Eugene Parks, 42, of Jacksonville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia and a handgun by a convicted felon after CCSO spotted the unresponsive man with his hand on a gun in the parking lot. They also noticed a plastic bag with a purple substance.
In addition to the gun, a search of the car uncovered methamphetamine, fentanyl and a glass pipe. His bond was set at $155,011.
