GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The peak of Florida’s Atlantic Hurricane season is here, and the Clay County Board of County Commissioners and Clay County Emergency Management is distributing their annual All Hazards Preparedness Guide to help residents and visitors prepare for emergencies.

The County’s newly revised All-Hazard Preparedness Guide is included within this issue of the Clay Today. The guide illustrates the county’s current evacuation zones and contains information concerning a wide range of preparedness topics, from information about how to prepare for hurricanes, floods, wildfires and tornadoes, to how to deal with extreme temperatures, influenza and active assailants.

The guide also contains information on Clay County’s Emergency Management webpage: alert.claycountygov.com. On this website, Clay County residents can register to receive emergency alerts, find out their evacuation zone, and sign up for the county’s Special Medical Needs Registry.

Commissioner Mike Cella said, “Having prepared citizens is critical to community resiliency. Remember that developing a family disaster plan and stocking a disaster kit are the two best ways to prepare yourself and your family from the adverse impacts of a hurricane or other disaster.”
