SJR State welcomes new VP for workforce development

St. Johns River State College announced David Campbell has been selected as Vice President for Workforce Development. Campbell assumes the responsibility and leadership for all of SJR State’s career and technical education programs.
According to SJR State President Joe Pickens, “Dr. Campbell embraces and supports the mission of the community college system. He believes that education and training for all people is fundamental for communities to prosper, and he knows that good, strong relationships, both internally and externally, are essential to the continued success of St. Johns River State College. I am looking forward to our new relationship with Dr. Campbell here at SJR State.”
Campbell, who holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Community College Leadership from Mississippi State University, brings 30 years of community college experience in workforce, career and technical education, student support services, and college leadership with him to SJR State.
At Northwest Mississippi Community College, he served as the Associate Dean and Director of the Career Education Center; Student Support Services counselor; as well as an adjunct instructor. At Hinds Community College in Mississippi, Campbell was the Dean for Career and Technical Education and an adjunct instructor, as well as an adjunct professor at Mississippi State University.
Campbell most recently served as Vice President for Workforce Solutions and Career-Technical Education at the Northwest Mississippi Community College, where his relationship with corporate leaders at John Deere led to the establishment of the only interactive distance training studio located on a community college campus.
He and his staff also helped build partnerships that created funding for new workforce training facilities in two of their district counties. By working with community leaders, economic development professionals, and legislative officials, Campbell was instrumental in obtaining a large facility of more than 130,000 square feet as a fourth campus for workforce training at the college.
“I look forward to working with the faculty and staff of SJR State College and our communities as we continue to develop a skilled workforce to meet the needs of business and industry, our citizens, and economic development for our region,” said Campbell. “It is my mission to promote a creative and collaborative environment for workforce development.”

Two from GCS make Presque Isle’s Dean’s List

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Payton Herbert Jones and Timothy Burns, both of Green Cove Springs, earned spots on the Dean’s List for the Fall semester at University of Maine-Presque Isle.

Three local students finish with 4.0 GPAs at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Fleming Island’s Hannah C. Frain, Middleburg’s Camrine Sydney Southard and Orange Park’s Nydia C. Ceronmiranda all were selected to the President’s List at the University of Alabama.
To make the President’s List, the three students achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the Fall semester.

Two Clay students on Dean’s List at Samford University

HOMEWOOD, Ala. – Samford University announced Madelyn Rosenau of Fleming Island and Delaney Haase of Middleburg both made the Dean’s List.
To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Nebraska-Lincoln selects Green Cove’s Murphy to Dean’s List

LINCOLN, Neb. – Green Cove Springs’ Renee Murphy recently was selected to the Dean’s List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the Fall semester.
Murphy, a junior psychology and political science major, was one of 5,700 students to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the semester.

Middleburg’s Mayo on Dean’s List at Emmanuel College

BOSTON – Austin Mayo of Middleburg made the Dean’s List at Emmanuel College for the Fall semester.
To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Emmanuel students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.

Fleming Island’s Merrell on James Madison Dean’s list

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Fleming Island resident Julia Merrell was selected to the Dean's list at James Madison University for the fall 2019 semester.
Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Merrell is majoring in biology.

Furman adds Fleming Island’s Sessions to Dean’s list

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Garhett Sessions of Fleming Island earned a place on Furman University's Dean's list for the 2019 fall semester.
Furman's dean's list is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a four-point system. Sessions' parents are Natalie Sessions and William Sessions.
