Three Clay students graduate from Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama awarded some 5,860 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies, including three former Clay County high students.
Kaleb Cody of Oakleaf received a Bachelor of Arts degree, while Hannah Frain of Fleming Island graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Oakleaf’s Sam Middlekauff received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration degree.

Green Cove Springs’ Collins graduates from Mars Hill
MARS HILL, N.C. – Mars Hill University held its spring commencement ceremony on May 15 in a socially distanced format. Graduates processed across the Lunsford Commons quadrangle area of the upper campus, accompanied by their chosen guests. Graduates were grouped by their academic majors, with groupings staggered throughout the afternoon.
Ashley Brooke Collins of Green Cove Springs was among the graduates, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Education- Middle Grades, summa cum laude. She also earned a spot on the Honor Roll of the Dean’s List her final semester.

Jacob Conrad graduates from Furman University
GREENVILLE, S.C. – In a virtual ceremony that took place in May of last year, Furman University President Elizabeth Davis conferred degrees on 671 students in the class of 2020. Additional students graduating in August and December of 2020 bring the total to 705.
More than 350 members of the class of 2020 returned to campus this year for a special in-person graduation ceremony. Jacob Conrad of Green Cove Springs graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Seven local students graduate from Maryland Global Campus
ADELPHI, Md. – Seven former Clay County students earned their degrees from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Tyler Nelson Dollar (Associate of Arts), Brad Joseph Red (Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity) and Stephen C. Spillman (Bachelor of Science Summa Cum Laude in Psychology) all of Middleburg; Quentin Levar Fields (Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity Management and Policy, Headyana Piearu (Bachelor of Science in Psychology) and Gilbert Kipngetich (Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity), all of Orange Park; and, Christopher Sean Kelly (Master of Science in Learning Design and Technology) of Green Cove Springs all earned degrees.
The university held a virtual stateside commencement on May 15 for more than 5,500 graduates of the Class of 2021. Worldwide, more than 13,000 students from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as 32 countries and territories, earned UMGC degrees during the 2020-21 academic year.

students on President’s List
MANCHESTER, N.H. – It was with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University congratulated the following Clay County students on being selected to the Winter 2021 President’s List – Paulette Cain, Rick McQueen, Saundria Evans and Dominique Pimienta of Middleburg, John Hauber, Ron Medrano, Aflredo Cunanna, Remus Figueroa and Floraine Mincey of Orange Park, Dale Shoenfelt of Green Cove Springs and Savannah Casey, Jennelyn Quides and Michael Russell of Oakleaf.
Full-time students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits; undergraduate day students must earn 12 credits in fall or spring semester, and online students must earn 12 credits.

Mississippi announces its
Chancellor’s, Dean’s Honor Roll
OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi recently announced students named to the Spring 2021 Honor Roll lists, including Chancellor’s Honor Roll.
The following students were named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00 – Hannah Lee Heyer of Fleming Island and Liam Benjamin Bielik and Carolina Hollis of Orange Park.
Also, Marley Ranee Hand of Orange Park was recently selected to Ole Miss’s Spring 2021 Honor Roll lists.
Hand was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50-3.74.
“Our students on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll are among the best and brightest at the University of Mississippi,” said Chancellor Glenn Boyce. “I commend them for their hard work and dedication resulting in their incredible academic achievements and this well-deserved honor.”

Fleming Island’s Macmillan on Utah’s Dean’s list
SALT LAKE CITY – Kendall Macmillan of Fleming Island was selected L, was named to the University of Utah’s Spring 2021 Dean’s List. Macmillan’s major is listed as Ballet BFA and Film and Media Arts BA.
Macmillan was among more than 8,700 students named to the Fall 2020 Dean’s List at the U. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

Caswell makes Brescia’s
Dean’s list
OWENSBORO, Ky. – Freshman Michael Caswell of Orange Park was selected to the Spring 2021 Dean’s List at the University of Brescia for completing at least 12 credit hours with a 3.5-4.0 GPA.
Brescia University is a Catholic, liberal arts institution founded in the Ursuline tradition of personal and social transformation through education by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph in 1950. Its origins are in Mount Saint Joseph Junior College for Women, established at Maple Mount, Kentucky in 1925.

Hannah McDonald on Berry’s Dean’s list
ROME, Ga. – The Dean’s List honors students, including Hannah McDonald of Fleming Island, who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester
Nationally recognized for academic excellence and as an outstanding educational value, Berry is an independent, coeducational, comprehensive liberal arts college of approximately 2,100 students.

Alisa Detlefsen on Troy’s
Chancellor’s list
Troy, Ala. – Alisa Detlefsen of Fleming Island earned a place on the Chancellor’s List at Troy University for the spring semester term.
The Chancellor’s List honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0.

Tiffany Adkins on Honors
List at Mercy College 
 TOLEDO, Ohio – Middleburg’s Tiffany Adkins was selected to the Dean’s List at Mercy College for the spring semester. A student must achieve a grade point average of 3.3 or higher and be enrolled for 12 or more credit hours. To be named on the Honor’s List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.3 or higher and be enrolled for 6-11 credit hours.
Mercy College of Ohio is a Catholic institution with a campus in Toledo, Ohio and a location in Youngstown, Ohio. It focuses on healthcare and health science programs.
Adkins is majoring in Medical Imaging.

Fogarty on Dean’s List at
Georgia State University

ATLANTA – Elizabeth Fogarty of Orange Park was selected to the Spring 2021 Dean’s List at Georgia State University.
To be eligible for the Dean’s List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Cumberlands puts Viens
on President’s List

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – In recognition of academic performance, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of the Cumberlands has announced the students named to the President’s List for the spring 2021 semester, including Theodore Viens of Green Cove Springs.
To be eligible for the President’s List, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 4.0, receive an “A” grade in UC Engage, and be in good academic standing.
