Appointments accepted for Passport Application Day
County to work on 80 requests at Orange Park Branch on Saturday, June 8

ORANGE PARK – Judging by the thermometer, summer is here. If you find yourself day-dreaming about a cruise to a far-away island or a trip to a foreign land, now is your chance to get your passport application taken care of over the weekend.
The Clay County Clerk’s Office has planned a by-appointment-only opportunity just for you on Saturday, June 8, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Orange Park Branch office at 1478 Park Ave. As many as 80 citizens may have passport applications processed.
This weekend service is a first-of-its kind effort for the Clay County Clerk’s Office under Clerk of Court Tara S. Green as her office strives to meet the needs of our community.
A passport is an internationally recognized travel document attesting to the identity and nationality of the bearer. The Clerk of Courts is the local government agency that may accept applications for passports. The application is then sent to one of the passport services designated by the Secretary of State. The application is reviewed, is either issued or denied, and returned to the applicant by mail.
Standard (4-6 weeks) passport fees: adult, $110; under 16, $80; processing fee, $35; expedited (2-3 weeks) passport fees: adult, $170; under 16, $140; overnight, $16.48; processing fee, $35; Passport cards also available for $30 (adult) and $15 (child).
Payment: Passport fees payable to the U.S. Department of State must be paid in check form (personal check, cashier’s check or money order). The U.S. Department of State only accepts one payment for each application. Clerks cannot issue checks on your behalf. Passport fees payable to the Clerk of the Court must be paid separately. Clerk fees may be paid in cash, check, money order or by credit card payment and can be combined.
Forms: The appropriate application may be obtained at the Clay County Courthouse in Green Cove Springs, Clerk of Court Orange Park Branch, or at most travel agencies. Completed forms must be signed in the presence of a Deputy Clerk at the time of filing and completed in black ink only. Forms are also available on the U.S. Department of State’s website, www.travel.state.gov. The U.S. Department of State requires passport customers to submit clear copies of citizenship evidence in addition to original or certified copy of U.S. citizenship.
Replacement: If a passport has been lost, stolen or mutilated, customers must complete a new application (same cost), with new pictures, birth certificate and affidavit of lost or stolen passport.

Clay Bridal Spectacular coming June 15 to Thrasher-Horne

ORANGE PARK – Calling all bridal parties! Thrasher-Horne Center presents the first Clay Bridal Spectacular on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m, featuring the very best of local professionals in an intimate setting, brides will have the opportunity for planning conversations for their weddings with a variety of vendors.
Wedding parties will also have the chance to register for vendor door prizes and one of two grand prizes: a complimentary wedding venue rental from Thrasher-Horne Center and a complimentary seven-day/six-night Caribbean hotel stay from It’s Your Day Bridal and Formal Boutique.

The Thrasher-Horne Center is a performing arts venue and conference center owned and operated by St. Johns River State College. It is located on the Orange Park campus at 283 College Dr. in Orange Park.

County Health: It’s never too early to get school vaccinations

ORANGE PARK – Students already can get their school vaccinations for next year at the Florida Department of Health’s Bear Run Clinic, 3229 Bear Run Blvd.
The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Garden Club of Orange Park installs new officers

ORANGE PARK – The Installation of Officers for the 2019-2021 term of the Garden Club of Orange Park was recently held at its Garden Center.
Past President Rita Harper (2005-2007) officiated as the new officers were installed and presented with a tea cup floral arrangement of roses and baby's breath.
The new officers are President Mary Lee Lacey, 1st Vice President Linda Fonferek, 2nd Vice President Ethelia Perry, Recording Secretary Ruth Johansen, Treasurer Sadako Long and Corresponding Secretary Faye Irvin.
Immediate Past President Virginia Singer presented Mary Lee with her Florida Federation of Garden Clubs Presidents Pin and wished her a successful term. The members and guests enjoyed tea party themed refreshments following the ceremony.

Clint Black ‘Still … Killin’ Time’ tour to make stop at Thrasher-Horne

ORANGE PARK – Clint Black’s Still…Killin’ Time 30th Anniversary Tour is coming to the Thrasher-Horne Center on Friday, Oct. 25.
The event is sponsored in part by Allegro on Fleming Island and 94.1 FM Jax Country.
After 30 years of killin’ time, Black is ready to celebrate. The multi-million selling country icon is embarking on a tour commemorating the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album “Killin’ Time,” which all but altered the landscape of country music.
Three decades later, Clint remains humble as ever about the massive influence he has had on the genre. Clint’s staggering career speaks for itself. He surged to superstardom as part of the fabled Class of '89, reaching No. 1 with five consecutive singles from his triple-platinum debut, “Killin' Time.” He followed that with the triple-platinum “Put Yourself in My Shoes,” and then a string of platinum and gold albums throughout the '90s. Comedian Bill Engvall to make encore appearance at Thrasher-Horne

ORANGE PARK – Bill Engvall is back by popular demand at the Thrasher-Horne Center on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m.
The event is presented by Thrasher-Horne Center and brought to you by Garber Automall. After two highly successful, almost sold-out shows, this will be Bill Engvall’s third appearance at the Thrasher-Horne Center.
Bill Engvall is a Grammy nominated, multiplatinum comedian and actor. Most recently, Bill was featured in the horror movie “The Neighbor” which was released January, 2018. In 2017, Bill released the comedy special Just Sell Him for Parts. Bill was a contestant on season 17 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and as a fan favorite, he made it to the finals. In 2013, Bill lent his voice to the animated comedy series Bounty Hunters, which aired on CMT. He previously starred in, and executive produced, the TBS sitcom The Bill Engvall Show. Bill was part of the enormously successful Blue Collar Comedy concert films, which sold over nine million units and received a Grammy nomination. He also starred on the WB’s hit sketch comedy show Blue Collar TV and in several solo specials for Comedy Central. In 2012, he reunited with Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy on the Them Idiots Whirled Tour, which aired as a special on CMT.
Bill’s first album, Here’s Your Sign, is certified platinum and held the #1 position on the Billboard Comedy Chart for 15 straight weeks. His second album, Dorkfish, also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Comedy Chart, as did his subsequent comedy albums.
