Comprehensive orthopedic care available at Baptist Clay

FLEMING ISLAND – Residents of Clay County and neighboring areas now have a new choice for orthopedic care with the opening of Baptist Orthopedics at Baptist Medical Center Clay. The newly opened office offers comprehensive, high-quality care with same-day and next-day appointments and an afternoon walk-in clinic on weekdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., ensuring patients can get the care they need without long waiting times.

The addition of orthopedic care at Baptist Clay demonstrates Baptist Health’s commitment to meet the growing orthopedic needs of the county. During the past five years, Baptist Health has seen 60% growth in orthopedic surgical activity among its residents.

Baptist Orthopedics Clay will treat a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, fractures, tendonitis and injuries. Patients will benefit from a full spectrum of treatment options, encompassing innovative, non-surgical treatments. When non-surgical measures don’t provide relief, surgical care, including partial and full joint replacements, is available on the hospital campus.

“This addition reflects our commitment to delivering personalized, high-quality orthopedic care right here in our community,” said Ed Hubel, FACHE, hospital president of Baptist Clay. “Whether patients need surgery, physical therapy, or other treatments, our team is here to help them regain mobility, reduce pain and improve their quality of life.”

Physicians at Baptist Orthopedics include:

• Joe Bhagratie, DO, CAQSM, MS, Sports Medicine Specialist

• Kurt Madzunovic, DO, Orthopedic Surgeon

• Harrison Mahon, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon

The orthopedic team brings the highest level of fellowship training in their respective fields, offering treatments that include bracing, injections, physical therapy, medication management and surgery if needed. The practice also provides innovative ortho-biologic treatments, which use biological substances from the patient’s own body to promote the natural healing processes for injuries and conditions such as arthritis, tendon injuries and ligament damage. These advanced therapies promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation and enhance healing.

“The launch of Baptist Orthopedics Clay underscores our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our community,” said Catherine Graham, MSH, senior vice president, clinical service lines and ambulatory business development at Baptist Health. “By offering a full spectrum of personalized orthopedic care, we’re empowering patients to heal, stay active and achieve their best quality of life.”

All three physicians are currently accepting new patients. To learn more or schedule an appointment, visit baptistjax.com/ortho or call (904) 516-1950.

Please note, some insurance plans require a referral to be treated at the afternoon walk-in clinic.
