FLEMING ISLAND – Concert on the Green and The Clay Education Foundation have entered into a partnership, joining forces to further promote art and music scholarships, competitions, and incentives for Clay County students.

“We believe the Partnership with Clay Education Foundation is an excellent match!” said an enthusiastic Lauren Hoffman, President of Concert on the Green. As part of the alignment, Clay Education Foundation, led by Executive Director, Makayla Buchanan, will now run the annual Concerto and Art/Poster Competitions that lead into the Concert on the Green, held Memorial Day Weekend.

CEF will also serve as a voice for school music and art needs within the county.

Both Concert on the Green and Clay Education Foundation are local 501(c)(3) nonprofits, with Clay Education Foundation dedicated to Clay County public schools and community by empowering students and educators, building community partnerships, and providing the necessary tools and resources to help all students reach success.

“This new partnership between the Clay Education Foundation and Concert on the Green is a natural fit and exciting for our art educators and students”, said Buchanan. “For years Concert on the Green has raised funds through their event to give back to various art and music students and programs at schools across Clay County. As the Foundation seeks to support our schools by providing funding and programmatic support to areas of need, we are delighted to work together and help even more art and music teachers.”

Concert on the Green is the largest musical event of its kind in Clay County, and for the past 32 years each Memorial Day weekend has orchestrated an “evening under the stars” complete with music by local musicians, bands, student performers, culminating with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and fireworks.

All concert proceeds, including ticket, food and drink sales go to support student education in music and art through scholarships, department funding, contest incentives and initiatives, such as the opportunity to perform with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
