Last December, Gov. Ron DeSantis selected County Manager Stephanie Kopelousos’ to his transition team as the Director of Legislative affairs. Four days later, county fire chief Lorin Mock was selected to serve as the interim manager.
“One of the things that is important to me is that we select somebody that will not be applying for the job and I’ve had discussions with Chief Mock and he’s not going to apply for the job,” said commissioner Diane Hutchings during the special meeting.
The BCC selected a recruitment firm used in the past to narrow a wide range of applicants to a list of semifinalists. The BCC formally voted on a list of 11 semifinalists during an April 30 special meeting.
The next step in this process comes next Monday with interviews and a final vote.
