Clay Today will test your knowledge weekly and provide interesting facts on various topics. This week, NFL playoffs and Super Bowl droughts. The most straightforward question around here is to identify the current NFL franchises that’ve never won a Super Bowl. Jacksonville is a free answer in these parts. The Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions are others. Did you know it’s been 14 seasons since the New York Jets have appeared in the playoffs and seven years since the Panthers and Falcons made the postseason. And here’s a mind-boggling statistic: the Miami Dolphins haven’t won a playoff game in 24 years, and the Raiders haven’t won a postseason game in 22 years. For those who can’t quickly calculate Roman numerals (and that’s most of us), this year’s Super Bowl LIX will be the 59th. While Jaguars fans bemoan the fact Jacksonville hasn’t been close to making the Big Dance in its 30-year existence, the Browns (80 years), Lions (59 years) and Texans (25 years) all have their runs of the futility of not getting to the Super Bowl – although the Lions and Texans can change all that this year.
