Faith walk: Do you need more JOY?

There are many things in life that will try to steal our joy. That’s why followers of Jesus are so blessed to have the influence of the Holy Spirit within us. Joy is one of the influences that grows and bears good fruit in our lives. This joy, that which God’s Spirit provides, persists through all circumstances. It doesn’t come and go when the waves of life toss us around. We can always find joy and comfort in our relationship with the Lord.

As a Christ-Follower, our joy stems from the truth found in God’s Word. In John 15:11, Jesus says, “I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” Even in the most difficult times, God has insight and wisdom that will bring joy to our hearts. That joy is a catalyst to so many other blessings in our lives.

Not only that, but our joy can have a profound impact on others. The joy we receive from God is like nothing or no one else. When others see it, it not only is an encouragement but also serves as a powerful testimony to our faith. Others want to capture that same kind of joy in their own life. This testimony opens up powerful opportunities to talk to people about what God has done for you.

God wants us to demonstrate His love to others, and in doing so help as many people as possible come to know His wonderful grace and mercy. Choosing joy and proclaiming our joy to everyone we meet is a great opportunity to make this happen.

The joy that comes from a life rooted in the majesty and awesomeness of God will undoubtedly change your life. An early follower of Jesus, the Apostle Peter, wrote this in his first epistle; “Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.” (1 Peter 1:8) Choose joy today! The world is a better place filled with joy!

Galatians 5:22-23 says “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Pray boldly that God would help you to embody each one of these. It will change your life!
