GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Generous contributions from the Clay County Fair Association, VyStar Credit Union, the Town of Orange Park, George and Ann Egan and the Egan Family Fund at the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida were used to purchase shelf-stable food for Clay County residents in need.

The Winn-Dixie Gives Foundation learned about these donations and gave an additional supply of shelf-stable food for Clay County residents.

The food donations are being packed into seven-day family food boxes and taken to Clay County area pop up food distribution points where families in need can pick them up. The distribution sites include these locations:

• Celebration Church, 512 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park (Wednesdays 10 a.m. - noon)

• Church at Eleven 22, 4459 US HWY 17, Fleming Island (Thursdays from 3-4 p.m.)

• First Baptist Church Middleburg, 2645 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg (Thursdays noon–1 p.m.)

• Keystone Safety Net Alliance, McRae Elementary at 6770 CR 315, Keystone Heights (Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m.) See https://www.facebook.com/keystonesafetynet/ for details.

• The Springs Church, 317 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park (Fridays 11 a.m. - noon)

“We are so grateful for these donations,” said John Ward, Clay County Director of Emergency Management. “We have a stellar team of professionals leading our Human Services portion of our Emergency Management operation. They have analyzed the needs of our community and are expanding operations to meet that need. So many Clay County residents have lost their jobs or been furloughed because of this health crisis. We are here to help them feed their families during this transitional time.”

In order to receive food at the area pop up food distribution points, register at Alert.ClayCountyGov.com or call the Emergency Operations Call Center at 877-252-9362.
