Faith walk: The Scriptures

We need a foundation for our faith. You can put your trust in Nature, science, education – the list continues. But a true and solid basis for our faith in our Christ is the Holy Scriptures – the Bible.

At some point you must decide a basis for your faith. I made that choice when I decided I would believe the Bible. With all the questions I have had, I knew I had to have a foundation for believing. I decided that foundation is the Bible and my faith in God would be based on the revelation of Him in the Scriptures.

The Bible says of itself, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT)

The New Testament book of Hebrews states the necessity of faith. It tells us of great things that we truly understand only by faith. Hebrews 11, verse 2 (NLT) says, “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” Hebrews goes on to say that “without faith it is impossible to please God.” (11:6)

When someone says, “If you believe the Bible, explain this …!” I have to say I don’t believe the Bible because I can explain everything in it; I believe it because I have faith that God has given a message to the world declaring His love and His great plan for mankind. I believe that message is the Bible.

The Bible is still the best - selling book in history. That is gratifying to believers but it is not a reason to believe it. You believe it because you accept it by faith. By faith you accept that the Bible is the primary way that God has chosen to speak to the world.

It then tells you how to live for Him!
