Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”

One of the most popular types of TV programs are about home renovation. Taking something old or tired and bringing it back to life gets people excited. You’ve probably seen a million shows like this. For example, an episode would look something like this. Someone goes and buys an old, dated house that’s also likely in some form of disrepair. They go into the house and lay out a plan to draw out the full potential of the space. Then, through the magic of television, in less than an hour they bring that plan into reality and the house is unrecognizable!

Sometimes our spiritual life is similar. Perhaps your spiritual life is comparable to the initial state of the house. It hasn’t been kept up with, maybe even in disrepair, and you’re in desperate need of a renovation. But the potential is there! With the proper updates, you know that what you have in your faith is special and could make your life everything God has created it to be. Pastor and radio host Woodrow Kroll said, “The God who made us also can remake us.”

Maybe it’s in a specific area, or maybe it’s all over. Whatever it is, God is ready to begin to make all things new and renovate your life. After all, He created the world and everything in it. He alone has the power to restore, rejuvenate and even rehabilitate your life. And who better to do it than God who loves you more than you could ever comprehend. He holds the very blueprints of your ultimate potential. He created the original design!

King David was known as a man after God’s own heart. He is regarded highly throughout the Scriptures, though he was also a man of many great faults. So why was he so applauded? Because He knew that God was a God of renewal and sought that renewal. He laid His mistakes at the feet of God and moved past them, becoming stronger than ever. That’s why David wrote in Psalm 51:10: “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”

Spring has arrived, and it’s a time for renewal in each and every one of our lives. Are you ready to embrace the renovations God is ready to make within you?
